Who this checker is for
For students, job applicants, multilingual writers and professionals checking emails, essays, reports or application materials. It is especially useful when you know what you want to say but need help with articles, verb forms, sentence boundaries or punctuation.
How to check a passage in Standard mode
Paste a passage of no more than 500 words and select Standard mode for your grammar check. Include enough surrounding text to make pronouns, tense and terminology understandable. An isolated sentence such as “They were approved” gives little guidance about whether “they” means applicants, invoices or proposed changes.
Read the revision alongside your original, sentence by sentence. Look first for necessary corrections: a missing article, a verb that disagrees with its subject, or two complete sentences joined only by a comma. Then review changes to wording. Keep a plain phrase if a more formal alternative adds nothing. For a longer document, work in coherent sections rather than cutting a sentence at the allowance boundary, and finish with a whole-document consistency check.
Separate grammar errors from editorial choices
Some corrections are straightforward: “She have submitted” should become “She has submitted.” Others depend on context. “The team is” is common in American English, while British English can use “the team are” when emphasizing individual members. Choose your English variety and apply it consistently rather than treating every difference as an error.
Punctuation also carries meaning. Adding commas around a clause can change whether it identifies a particular group or describes everyone in that group. Likewise, changing “may” to “will” strengthens a claim; it is not a grammar correction. Review suggestions involving qualifications, obligations and uncertainty particularly carefully. Standard mode is the selected editing mode, not permission to change your intent. If a sentence is genuinely ambiguous, clarify the intended meaning yourself before accepting a polished version.
Verify facts and protect sensitive wording
A grammar checker cannot establish whether a deadline, measurement, citation or achievement is accurate merely by making its sentence fluent. Compare names, dates, amounts, units and reference markers against your source documents. Preserve quoted wording exactly; if a quotation contains an error, follow the relevant style guide instead of silently correcting the source.
For résumés, do not accept revisions that turn participation into leadership or a team result into an individual achievement. For coursework and admissions writing, keep the work original, check institutional policies and disclose assistance when required. Avoid submitting unnecessary personal or confidential information. Humanizely supports 15 languages, but that does not mean every regional convention or specialist expression will be handled correctly. Domain terminology and high-stakes wording still need informed human review.
